What We Don’t Do
Half the calls a local electrician gets are for jobs outside their trade. To save you a phone call, here’s what Pro Fit Electrics does not do, and who to call instead.
- ✗Automotive electrical work. We are not auto electricians. Car batteries, alternators, vehicle wiring and caravan 12V systems need an auto electrician, which is a separate trade. We do install the EV charger on your wall; we don’t work on the car itself.
- ✗Air conditioner and appliance repairs. We wire circuits for air conditioning, ovens and hot water systems, but repairing the appliance itself is a job for an appliance or HVAC technician.
- ✗Plumbing and gas fitting. Different licence, different trade. If your hot water issue turns out to be gas or plumbing, we’ll tell you rather than bill you.
- ✗Helping with DIY electrical work. Almost all electrical work in Victoria is illegal to do yourself under the Electricity Safety Act 1998, and it voids your home insurance. We won’t advise on it or sign off on it after the fact.
- ✗Routine work outside Melbourne’s south-east. We’re based in Beaconsfield. Suburbs like Tarneit, Mernda, St Albans or South Yarra on the other side of Melbourne are outside our standard service area. Our patch is Beaconsfield, Berwick, Officer, Clyde North and nearby suburbs.
- ✗Quoting sight-unseen on complex jobs. Switchboards, rewires and EV chargers get a free on-site inspection first, because a guess over the phone becomes a variation on your invoice. Small, clearly-defined jobs can be quoted directly.
Do You Offer Emergency Electrician Services?
Urgent faults we attend same-day where possible: a burning smell or scorch marks at the switchboard, safety switches that trip and won’t reset, partial loss of power to the house, and sparking power points. If your whole street is out, that’s a network issue for AusNet, not an electrician, and knowing that saves you a call-out.
If the fault traces back to an ageing board, the fix is usually a switchboard upgrade rather than a patch. We’ll tell you which one you actually need.
How Much Does an Electrician Cost in Beaconsfield, Berwick and Officer?

For landlords: if your board has no Test button, it has no RCD, and the property doesn’t meet current requirements under the Residential Tenancies Act. That’s a legal liability, not a recommendation. The fix is usually straightforward and often rolls into a board upgrade.
For buyers: a pre-purchase inspection flags outdated fuse boxes, non-compliant wiring and missing safety switches before you settle, which is negotiating leverage or a dodged bullet, depending on what we find.
Who Can Install an EV Charger at Home in Melbourne?
The part most people miss: the charger is the easy bit. A 7kW unit draws around 32 amps continuously for hours, and plenty of boards, especially in older Berwick and Beaconsfield homes, were never sized for that.
